I edition

In September 2006, Polskapresse Publishing and Media Regionalne in cooperation with the Orange Foundation (formerly known as the TP Group Foundation) launched the first edition of the “School without violence” program. Throughout September, schools applied to participate in the program. In order to be accepted, they were required to declare adherence to the “School without violence” code. Schools were given promotional materials - a brochure for teachers entitled “School without violence”, posters with the “School without violence” Code and a door sticker informing about the school's participation in the Program. They could also participate in contests.

Completed projects:

• social research about violence in schools,
• Development of the „ School without violence” Code
• launching of the www.szkolabezprzemocy.pl , website
• national conference about violence and its social consequences,
• contest for students: t-shirt designs
• school audit - a diagnosis of violence and aggression prevalence,
• telephone hotline for witnesses and victims of school violence in the Lubuskie and Łódzkie regions ,
• contests for schools for violence and aggression prevention projects,
• „ School without violence” film contest
• chats with experts at www.szkolabezprzemocy.pl ,
• award gala at the Belweder presidential palace .

Results in numbers:

• Over 3000 schools – 10% of all schools in Poland – joined the Program
• 2671 applications were sent in to the T-shirt design contest
• 916 school projects on preventing violence were submitted to the “School without violence" contest (64 of which were awarded prizes),
• 116 films were submitted to the contest,
• 200 schools throughout the country took part in the school audit
