About Programme

The „School without bullying” programme has been started on spring 2006, led by local dailies editors: Polskapresse and Media Regionalne with support of Orange Foundation (previous TP Group Foundation). In June 2009 Operon publishing house has joined the campaign as its Partner. The campaign has been operating under the honorable patronage of the President of Republic of Poland Mr Lech Kaczyński. 

The aim of the Programme is to raise awareness of youngsters violence and support effective violence prevention and reaction in the schools. Regional dailies has published 1 000 articles yearly showing good practices in the schools and broaching the problems of childrearing, school bulling and violence.

 During 3 years of the campaign 5 000 schools (15% of all) in Poland have acceded our Programme and have agreed to obey the School without bulling Code. The Code includes 10 simple rules that help in achieving a goal which is school free of violence where everyone is safe and respected. Annually schools have been supported with brochures, posters and other materials. During last two years 3 000 teachers have been trained on regional workshops. On our website kids, teachers and parents can find articles on the subject, supporting materials to work with and other useful informations. Bulling victims and witnesses can find help at our intervention mail. Every month there has been a chat with an expert where everybody can ask a question and get an advise. Yearly we have also organized various contests and grant program in witch schools have been awarded for they actions and initiatives.

Since 2006 a research covering violence characteristics of bullying and it’s actual level in polish schools has been published annually. Regarding 2009 report we have noticed:

·         fall in verbal violence: 43.5% in 2008 against 41.4% in 2009;

·         decrease in beatings: 7.5% in 2008 against 6.5% in 2009,

·         decrease in number of peer violence incidents observed by teachers in elementary schools: 5.2% in 2007 against 4.6% in 2009

In September 2009 the research on parents knowledge about school bullying and its comparison to data collected from students and teachers was published.

5th June 2008 for the first time we celebrated School without bulling Day. 1 300 schools in whole country organized local festivities to show they protest to the bullying.  200 000 signatures of kids, parents and teachers were collected under an Open Letter to Polish Authorities. The book with signatures was handed to President of Poland, Prime Minister and Heads of Parliament. In 2009 1 800 schools organized School without bullying Day. 

4th edition of “School without bullying” started in September 2009.  In July 2009 the pilot project “School without bulling” has been started on Ukraine and it has been financed by Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
