Professor of psychology, since 1996 associated with the Research Centre for Health Promotion (HEMIL) .
Involved in research work and interventions in school violence for 30 years. His area of interest includes consequences suffered by victims of school violence. He developed the Bullying Prevention Program (approved by the U.S. Senate) which is being successfully implemented in many schools throughout the world. He cooperates with many researchers and institutions around the world including Japan, Great Britain, Holland, the United States and Norway.
His books have been translated into 15 languages (including Polish). He is the most frequently cited Scandinavian researcher.

In 1976-1982 Bob van den Meer was a physical education teacher in a vocational school for girls in Amsterdam-West which implemented government aid projects for immigrant children. In 1982 he joined the KPC (Katholiek Pedagogisch Centrum), where his responsibilities included projects implemented in schools by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. These projects focused on effectively solving violence related problems in families and schools. Bob participates in many research and academic projects, monitoring ways of preventing and solving school violence problems not only in Holland but also other European countries. He has developed his own method of preventing school violence.
Professor of psychology, since 1991 involved in managing and coordinating research on the phenomenon and forms of school violence.
He is a cofounder of the European Observatory on Violence and Schools established in 1998 at the Department of Pedagogy of the University of Bordeaux. The Observatory is supported by the European Commission, the French Ministry of Education and local government of Aquitaine. Cooperates with UNESCO and the European Parliament. The facility regularly organizes international conferences on school violence and means of prevention, expanding the network of cooperating academics and institutions.
